Punjab’s Eid security plan was finalised in a high level meeting attended by all the CPO senior officers and was held under Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Khan Baig’s Chairmanship at the CPO.
They decided to cancel the leaves of all police officers and officials, adding that all training schools and colleges would remain open during Eid. Furthermore, they decided upon deploying 50,723 police officials at sensitive areas, markets, mosques, madaris and important government buildings.
According to the plan, 246 gazette officers, 726 inspectors, 1,983 sub-inspectors, 3,179 ASIs, 2,102 head constables, 27,582 constables, 11,046 Police Qaumi Razakars and 3,859 Special Police Officials would remain on duty throughout the Eid festival.
Moreover, they decided to install 103 walkthrough gates, 7,494 metal detectors and 337 CCTV surveillance cameras in various sensitive areas throughout the province.
Baig stressed upon the officers remaining alert during the occasion and also advised them to keep constant contact with their subordinates to take timely action to deal with any untoward situation.
Moreover, Baig expressed his hope that the public would extend its cooperation with the police and additionally remain watchful towards any mysterious activities in their surroundings.
