Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf on Wednesday urged the ulema from different schools of thought to exhibit greater unity and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on same day across the country.
Talking to this news agency, the minister said he had contacted leading ulema and mashaikh requesting them to coordinate with Central Ruet-e-Hilal, district as well as zonal committees with regard to the sighting of Shawwal moon to celebrate the holy festival on same day in all parts of the country.
Yousaf said he talked to Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman on Wednesday and expressed the desire of complete harmony in moon sighting process among central and zonal committees as witnessed on the first day of Ramazan.
He asked the chairman to keep close liaison with ulema including Mufti Shahbuddin of Masjid Qasim Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for the purpose.
This year, he said, two representatives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa committee would attend the central meeting which was scheduled to be held in Karachi today as observer.
The minister said the central committee would make final announcement after receiving and collecting evidences from all parts of the country regarding sighting of the moon.
