The Ministry of Water and Power has sought 152 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) additional gas from the Ministry of Petroleum on Wednesday for supply to four independent power producers (IPPs) for the generation of additional electricity to avoid load shedding during Eidul Fitr.
The additional supply of gas will generate 800 to 900 megawatt electricity which will shorten the span of power outages.
In a letter to the Water and Power Ministry, the Petroleum Ministry said 60 MMCFD gas which had been provided to the fertiliser sector be supplied to Guddu power plant again.
The Economic Coordination Committee had approved the supply 60 MMCFD gas to the fertiliser sector by the first week of August.
