Residents of the twin cities on July 31 published a report in the newspaper quoting PCRWR that 67 out of 86 filtration plants in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are supplying unsafe drinking water.
This has drawn attention of all elected representatives of the twin cities.
In an open letter to MNAs Imran Khan, Sheikh Rasheed and Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry the citizens asked them to pay attention to their voters who are being provided with unsafe drinking water.
The report authenticated by the specialised laboratory namely PCRWR said that unsafe drinking water was being used by residents of most of the residential sectors of Islamabad. Areas of Rawalpindi which were mentioned in the report are Dhok Kala Khan, Dhok Paracha, Dhok Kashmirian, Sadiqabad, 6th Road, Banni Chowk, various blocks of the Satellite Town, Dhok Ratta, Mohnpura, Dariya Abad, Gawalmandi, Rawal Chowk, Rahimabad, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Bagh Sardaran and Saidpur Road.
They expressed their grief that elected representatives of both the cities have not taken any action in this regard. They hoped that the MNAs and MPAs of Rawalpindi would take steps and address their problems.
