Nasir, Irfan axed from Pakistan test squad

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday announced a 15-member test squad for the tour of Zimbabwe sidelining batsman Nasir Jamshed and pacer Mohammad Irfan while opener Khurrum Manzoor was inducted in the touring party.

The Pakistan team will play two test matches, three one-day internationals and two T20 matches on the Zimbabwean tour which commences from August 23 with a T20 match at Harare followed by a similar game on August 24 at the same venue.

The one day series will kick off at Harare on August 27, with second ODI on August 29 at the same venue followed by third ODI on August 31 also at Harare.

Barring one game, the venue of the entire series is to be played at Harare. The first test will be played from September 3-7 at Harare and the second from September 10-14 at Bulawayo.

Haris Sohail, wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed, Taufeeq Umar and Umar Gul, who is out of action with injury, were part of the test squad which played South Africa February this year and have been replaced by Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali, Imran Farhat, Khurram Manzoor and wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal. Imran Farhat, however, was not part of the original squad that was announced for the tour of South Africa.

“It is a balanced squad and we have named the three respective sides keeping in view the utility of the players,” said a spokesman of Pakistan Cricket Board.

“We are confident that all the players who have been recalled will justify in their roles to enhance teams performance for its success,” he added.

The ODI and T20 squads have some changes as well but reliance have been shown on the old guards, he added. Wahab Riaz following a poor run in recent tour of West Indies with only wickets has been axed and Anwar Ali was brought in Batsman Muhammad Rizwan who toured West Indies is not accompanying the team as he has been selected in the Pakistan U23 team.

In T20 format Riaz failed to secure his place and made way for Asad Ali while Sohaib Maqsood replaced Hammad Azam.

Shame on selection comitee who has again selected Imran Farhat.It looks Farhat has a good influence in PCB.His poor run always deceived the team.PCB should follow the rules of BCCI regarding selecton.Players like Sehwag,Youraj and Gambir are not in the team due to poor run still there is no one like these Indian players in present Pakistani team.
