Five sisters died and four others of the same family fell sick on Monday night after they apparently consumed poisonous food in Gulshan-e-Maymar area.
According to the IG office, five daughters of one Ghulam Murtaza
Mangrio died after consuming the contaminated food, while he fell sick along with his wife, another daughter and a son.
The ill family members have been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad had expressed concern over the death of five sisters in Gulshan-e-Maymar area due to food poisoning.
The governor had sought a report on the incident from the authorities concerned. He also directed the officials concerned to ensure appropriate medical facilities to those who fell ill, said a handout issued here on Monday.
He also expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
