A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday issued a notice to the federal government, Punjab government, Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and University of Health Sciences on a petition against receiving extra expenses in addition to fees, by private medical colleges from students.
Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh and Justice Shahid Waheed issued the notice on an application in a pending matter filed by the Judicial Activism Panel.
The petitioner’s counsel stated that private medical colleges were annually receiving Rs 600,000 from each student in fee.
He said that Rs 114,800 were being additionally received as expenses, other than the fee, which was unjust. He pleaded to the court to stay the reception of extra expenses in addition to the fee.
To a court query, the petitioner counsel said that colleges were allowed to collect their fee but not other expenses as per PMDC regulations.
After hearing the argument the bench issued a notice to the respondents and sought a reply.
There will of course be more of the sufficient prospects to be revealed with some effective guides and credentials and hopefully there will be more of the aspects to be seen.
