With an aim to implement the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the functioning of the revenue department, the departments concerned have been instructed to ensure the fulfillment of the apex court’s orders in letter and spirit.
Moreover, both these departments – the revenue, relief and rehabilitation – have also been ordered to furnish complete details of the officials so that the alleged corruption and mismanagement may be contained and the functioning of the departments may be improved, sources told Pakistan Today.
In order to ensure compliance of the orders, the Sindh Minister for Revenue Makhdoom Jameeluz Zaman forwarded a letter to the Pakistan Disaster Management Authority’s director general to furnish the complete details of employees aimed at improving the performance of the department.
“The honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan has cancelled all absorptions, deputations and out of turn promotions and even the acts pertaining to the subject have been declared redundant,” according to a letter, a copy of which is exclusively available with the Pakistan Today.
“I would like to have the complete list of officers/officials of revenue, relief and rehabilitation departments throughout province of Sindh who in obedience to the orders of the Honourable Supreme Court have had their deputations cancelled and absorption recalled by the department “, the letter adds.
The Sindh minister for revenue told Pakistan Today that the chief minister had given him full powers to carry out cleansing of the entity to ensure a corruption free atmosphere in the revenue department. “After the list of officials is furnished, I have a plan to go for verification of revenue officials’ academic record”, he added.
“When I took over the charge as the minister, I launched a complaint cell so people of the province could lodge their complaints against the revenue officials. I will not tolerate leniency and negligence in dealing the public issues related to revenue,” Makhdoom Jameel said.
