DIK jailbreak prompts cops to pull up their socks

Following an intelligence warnings, security entities warmed up, beefing up security around Sukkur Central Prison to counter any terror assaults or attacks on the establishment.

According to Sukkur Senior Superintendent Poilce Irfan Baloch, hundreds of additional police were called in from other districts, which included commandos who were deployed inside the jail.

The SSP said dozens of police vehicles and some armoured personnel carriers were also deployed in view of the lethal situation.

It was reported that prison authorities had asked intelligence agencies for help to ensure invincible security for the prison. Sindh Minister for Prisons Manzoor Wasan, had cautioned all officers to buckle up for the impending threats.

The minister had said that terrorists belonging to outlawed outfits were imprisoned in the Sukkur jail which required security arrangements beyond the normal.

Check posts have also been set up by the police and paramilitary soldiers.
