Commissioner urges Karachiites to cooperate on Independence Day

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has urged Karachiites to cooperate with the city administration in commemorating the national Independence Day in most befitting manner on 14th August.

Chairing a meeting on Monday to review arrangements being made for Independence Day celebrations, he said the main ceremony would be held in the premises of Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum.

He said the main events would include “Flag Hoisting Ceremony” and would be attended by VVIPs as well as citizens from all walks of life. Fool proof security arrangements would also be ensured, he added.

The commissioner directed the officials concerned to make an immediate assessment of the area surrounding the mausoleum.

The commissioner also ordered immediate measures for a sort of mop-up exercise focussed on cleanliness and careful pruning of vegetation, with due care given towards aesthetics, around the mausoleum premises.

On the occasion, Siddiqui also listened to the scheme being adopted by Directorate of School Education, Karachi about arrangements being made for the day at both public and private sector schools in the city.

Kachlo, Quaid-e-Azam Management Board resident engineer, All Pakistan Traders Body (Karachi chapter) senior president,

Bohra Bazar Association President Manzoor JZ, and Protocol Department director.

Siddiqui also directed that a traffic management plan should be developed for the occasion with active involvement of boy scouts association.

Moreover, he said each and every citizen of the city had to participate in the celebrations.
