The Supreme Court (SC) has asked 19 government departments that have refused to get their accounts audited to file their replies within two weeks, warning of initiation of ex parte proceedings.
A two-member SC bench, headed by Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali, issued the order on Monday during the course of hearing of a case pertaining to refusal by 19 government departments in connection with audit of their accounts by auditor general.
Legal advisers of these departments appeared in the court. “Which departments have filed their replies? Proceedings will be initiated against the departments that have not done so,” the court observed, ordering them to file replies.
During the hearing, the auditor general report was also presented in the court.
The hearing of the case was adjourned for two weeks.
