Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Nadeem Hassan Asif has ordered an enquiry into the alleged corruption in the reserves and distribution of petrol and diesel in MPO department of the civic authority.
The enquiry has been ordered following a special audit report, while DPOM Shahid Suhail has been appointed enquiry officer.
Embezzlement of Rs 28.627 million and loss of Rs15.758 million to the CDA have been revealed in the audit report. The losses at two points are indicated in the report: Firstly, CDA paid Rs 9.1 million to Ali Automobiles in advance for the supply of petrol but the company did not supply. The advance payments were made with the approval of former MPO and former Member Finance. DG Rawal Khan Metla is holding the enquiry into the matter, while an FIR has also been registered. Secondly, the petrol evaporated at a rate of 0.5 to 1.5 per cent, which is also declared a loss in the audit report.
However, the officials of MPO department are of the view that the audit report is discriminatory and unilateral as previous concurrent audit, internal audit and special audit did not point out any embezzlement or corruption.
