One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is taking on a new career in the coming months, professional football. The singer signed to the Doncaster Rovers, his home team, after playing in a charity match earlier this year. While he is signed on a non-contract basis, he’ll be playing at some point in the upcoming season while balancing his commitments to his band. Tomlinson will work alongside Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, a charity that he previously worked with during last season’s charity match. The boy bander, who used to work at the Rovers’ stadium during game days as a teenager, made a statement regarding the good news. “This has always been a childhood dream for me. I feel very honoured to have been asked to sign for Rovers and being able to help both the club and the amazing charity Bluebell Wood is what it’s all about.” Steve Uttley, the Media Manager for the team said, “What started out as light-hearted banter on text has moved on to reality, which is a great coup for the club. Our next step is to get Louis on the pitch again in a Rovers kit.” Tomlinson will step out onto the field for his first professional game with a number 28 jersey. He took to Twitter to share the good news with fans and express his excitement for the new chapter in his life. “Amazing day for me, such an honour to be part of @drfc_official ! Who’s gonna come to a game?” Well, we think there will be plenty of Directioners who will jump at the chance to see their favorite singer play. We’re also certain that the rest of his bandmates will be in the stands to show their support!
