Margallian Welfare Association (MWA) has urged high-ups in the government to intervene and direct the concerned authorities for restoration of water supply to the housing society.
Twin City Housing Chief Executive Rana Shaheed, MWA President Javed Siddiqui and Secretary Raja Ilyas told media that water was being supplied to Margalla View Housing Society from Sunday Mar Dam (Gecko Hunt Dam) after a written agreement between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the society management. The MWA said, “The dam management and the CDA has stopped the water supply to the society without any reason or shortage of water in the dam. We have contacted them a number of times but to not avail.”
“Around 80,000 people are living in the society and CDA had issued No Objection Certificate (NoC) in 2002 for D-17 Margalla View Housing Society. The society’s water treatment plant was installed in 2010 at a total cost of Rs 2 billion and water supply was started in 2012,” MWA added.
They appealed to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Minister for Interior Nisar Ali Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for intervening and taking notice of the situation and directing the concerned authorities to restore water supply to the residents without further delay.
It is wrong that 80,000 people are living in Margalla View Housing Scheme and Mr. Javed Kazim Siddiqui is not a President of Margallians' Welfare Association.
Cost mentioned for Water treatment plant is Rs. 2.0 billion is not understandable because 3 three settling tanks having sand and crush stone cannot treat the dirty water of Sandaymar Dam.
