Paramilitary troops on Saturday carried out a search operation at the Benazir International Airport amid security threats and cleared it at 6am.
Security at the airport was put on high alert after receiving intelligence report of a possible terror attack.
Rangers and army were called in and deployed at all entry and exit points, while the airport parking lot was also vacated.
Heavy contingents of rangers sealed all the roads leading to the airport. The officials also stopped the passengers from going inside the airport.
Entrance of private vehicles into the airport was also barred.
The airport authorities termed the move as a routine search over fear of terrorists attack.
However, the airport was cleared and the passengers were allowed to enter after the search operation in the morning.
