Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday demanded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak step down in the wake of the Dera Ismail Khan prison break incident, wondering what “teeli pehalwan” was doing.
The PML-N leader was apparently referring to Khattak’s lanky stature.
His words took even the prime minister and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif by surprise, who asked his brother Shahbaz Sharif to rein in Sana from making provocative statements.
On the other hand, KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai said Rana Sana’s mental “screws” needed tightening and that the statement would cost the Punjab law minister dearly.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Sana said PTI Chief Imran Khan should tell the people of Pakistan who was responsible for the attack and how would the provincial government compensate the damages.
To a question, Sana said Pakistan’s peace was linked with peace in Karachi and all political parties, including the PPP, MQM and ANP, should disband their militant wings.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to bar Sanaullah from making controversial statements.
In the meeting of Council of Common Interests on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Rana Sanaullah should have avoided the statement demanding resignation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.
