Police officials conducted a raid in Peshawar’s Badaber area on Thursday, killing one suspected militant and arresting two others.
After receiving a tip-off, the security personnel conducted this raid at a house in Badaber. Militants opened fire on the raiding party upon their arrival into the area.
During the cross firing between the police and the militants, one suspect was killed whereas two others were apprehended.
The arrested individuals were wanted in several cases, police sources revealed.
Peshawar, which lies at the edge of Pakistan’s tribal areas, was labeled by Washington as the main sanctuary for Al Qaeda and Taliban militants in the country.
The city has seen frequent attacks by militants in the past few years, with targets ranging from civilians to policemen and other law enforcement personnel.
