Following in the footsteps of previous regime, Nawaz Sharif also hinted at the reconciliatory politics with his strong political opponents – the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Muttehida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

While talking to media men at the Qauaid-e-Azam mausoleum on Thursday, PM Nawaz Sharif hinted at reconciliation with the PPP and the MQM saying the PML-N accepted the mandate of all the political forces and that was why the MQM’s Sindh governor and the PPP’s CM were standing with him. However, the premier refused to comment when asked about the possible replacement of MQM-backed governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan.

“We (PML-N) accept the mandate of MQM at provincial and federal level. And, all the issues will get resolved only through democratic way”, he said, adding the country would prosper if the democratic process continued.

“I held a detailed meeting with Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah in the federal capital two days ago which would bring positive results soon. We want to take all the provinces along as it will strengthen democracy in the country”, the prime minister added.

“I have assured the chief minister about the federal assistance when and wherever required to improve law and order situation in the province, particularly in the metropolis. Whatever policy the provinces will chalk out regarding law and order, the federal govt will assist them”, he said.

The conflict with India will be resolved in a peaceful atmosphere. In its previous government, the PML-N had started negotiations with India through Lahore Declaration and the same will be resumed soon, Nawaz Sharif said.

“We also want to shake hands with India for trade, commerce and other issues. Besides, the Kashmir issue will also be resolved through talks”, the PM added.

Nawaz Sharif did not respond to queries of the reporters on replacement of MQM-backed Sindh governor, disappointment of PML-N leader Syed Ghous Ali Shah, reservations of the Sindhi nationalists against reconciliation with the MQM.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accompanied by Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi landed at the Karachi airport on Thursday morning and he was accorded a warm welcome by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Besides, the local PML-N leadership including its general secretary Salim Zia, MPA Irfanullah Khan Marwat and Nehal Hashmi were also present at the airport. The prime minister along with the governor and the CM paid a visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and laid floral wreath.
