Punjab Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized heroin and ephedrine worth millions from different areas of the city on Wednesday.
As per detail, ANF raided on a tip-off a house situated in Defence and arrested two African nationals. Officials recovered 1.2 kilogrammes of heroin from their possession.
ANF officials said that the criminals named William and Aknow were trying to smuggle the heroin by hiding it in their garments.
During a separate raid, ANF officials recovered 53 kilogrammes of ephedrine from Iqbal Town precincts and arrested the men who reportedly supply ephedrine to Afghanistan.
ANF Brigadier Shahid Afzal said they were cracking down on foreigners living illegally in Pakistan.
TWO KILLED IN ENCOUNTER: Two men were killed in a police encounter while two of their cohorts managed to escape after exchange of fire with the police on Wednesday.
According to the police, they came across a ‘stolen’ vehicle in Defence B. Upon seeing the police, the ‘robbers’ in the vehicle, started firing shots at the police. In retaliatory fire two robbers were killed while their two accomplices taking the advantage of darkness fled the scene. The bodies were moved to mortuary for postmortem.
However, relatives of the deceased claimed that the robbers were already in police custody in robbery cases and raping women during robberies. The under custody robbers were killed in fake encounter, they added.
It should be mentioned that 10 robbers have been killed during overnight encounters in last couple of days.
MOST WANTED EXTORTIONIST BUSTED: The master mind of an extortionist gang named Waqas Talwariya was arrested on Wednesday.
As per details, DSP Iqbal Shah and SHO Gulam Dastagir along with the Baghbanpura Police raided a house in Shadipura precincts after tracking the criminal’s mobile phone and arrested Waqas and his accomplice Asim. According to reports, the criminals had called a citizen Waheed for extortion. The police officials said that the criminals were involved in many cases of extortion and other crimes. The police also said that Waqas already completed his imprisonment in the case of extortion years ago.
BOMB HOAX AT GANGA RAM HOSPITAL: Bomb hoax in Ganga Ram Hospital created panic among the patients and their attendants on Wednesday. According to details, four drunken men after being caught red handed by the security guards of the hospital spread the bomb scare in a bid to free themselves from the guards’ custody.
However, the police cleared the hospital and arrested the men.
ACCIDENT: Two children died while 11 others were injured when a passenger bus collided with a motorcycle on Wednesday.
According to details, the accident took place at Multan Road near Chung where an over speeding bus rammed over a motorcycle carrying three people and turned turtle afterwards. As a result of the accident two children riding on the motorcycle died on the spot while their father sustained wounds. Around 10 bus passengers were also injured in the mishap. The injured and the hurt were shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities. Heirs of the victim children blocked the road and held a protest demonstration. Later the protestors dispersed peacefully after being assured that strict action will be taken against the responsible.
