Unwell baby shifted to Lahore on CM’s directives for free treatment

A 12-day-old baby girl was brought to Lahore via a special aircraft on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif. Shahbaz ordered free treatment for her in response to a media report which revealed the disease she suffered from.Health (Technical) Additional Secretary Dr Anwar Janjua and Medical Superintendent Dr Zahid Pervaiz received the child, her mother and her uncle Abdul Qayyum.The baby’s uncle thanked the CM for giving his family a ray of hope and added that his whole family was extremely grateful to Shahbaz for administering free treatment for the child.A three member special medical board comprising Prof Dr Asad Aslam Khan, Associate Prof Dr Sohail Safdar and Pediatric Ophthalmologist Dr Ashraf Paul was set up at the Mayo Hospital for executing a detailed examination the treatment of the baby. Pervaiz said that the board would submit a report on the proposed treatment for the child. He said that the medical examination and treatment of the patient would immediately start while the boarding and lodging of her attendance had also been arranged at the hospital.
