A constable in uniform set himself ablaze after pouring kerosene oil on himself in Sheikhupura on Wednesday.
Reportedly, Inspector Arif Shah, posted in Hafizabad district, and with his father-in-law Ali Hassan, had gotten a false case registered against the constable. He approached senior officers for justice but to no avail.
The dejected constable later attempted self-immolation. People present on the scene doused the fire and took the constable to hospital from where he was referred to a hospital in Lahore in critical condition.
Meanwhile, DPO Hamayun Bashir Tarar ordered an inquiry into the incident and deputed an ASP as the inquiry officer.
