The prices of fruits and vegetables are still unchanged in ‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’ of the federal capital despite the start of last ashra.
According to rate list issued by Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICT) on Wednesday for four Sasta Bazaars of the federal capital, the prices of fruits and vegetable have remained stable.
Rates of daily bazaar, banana are being sold at Rs 80 to 120 per dozen, mangoes Rs 55 to 90 per kg, apples at Rs 95 to 220 per kg, dates at Rs 130 to Rs 135 per kg, black berries Rs 55 per kg, Rs 48 and lemon Rs 100 per kg.
While the prices of vegetables, tomatoes are being sold at Rs 68 per kilogramme, potatoes Rs 28 per kg, onion Rs 44 per kg, lady finger at Rs 30 per kg, turnip Rs 26 per kg, peas Rs 100, chicken Rs 142 per kg.
Consumers said that Ramadan Sasta Bazaars have failed to attract citizens of the federal capital due to substandard items on high prices.
Zahid Shah, a consumer at G-7 Ramadan Sasta Bazaar, said that all items in the Sasta Bazaars are unhygienic and are being sold at higher rates.
“If the government really wants to provide relief to masses, it should adopt check and balance policy against price control magistrates,” he added.
Another consumer Tahir Awan called for adopting proper mechanism and taking appropriate measures to check vendors from overcharging and selling substandard fruit and vegetables.
The prices of commodities have not been decreased despite the initiation of the last Ashra of Ramazan, he added.
