President Asif Zardari on Wednesday appointed Chaudhry Sarwar as the new governor of Punjab.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday sent a summary to the president recommending Sarwar for the post.
Sarwar is a British citizen who reportedly arrived from the United Kingdom and met Nawaz on the offers of two alternative posts, high commissioner to the UK or the Punjab governor.
“Everything that I have learnt in my time in Britain – the knowledge and how to run institutions – I can use it for the benefit of Pakistanis,” said Sarwar, 60, who was born in Punjab.
“I can be a bridge between overseas Pakistanis and Pakistanis here and work for the betterment of both.”
Having served as Labour Party Member of Parliament in Glasgow for 13 years, Sarwar comes with the experience of legislation besides having been a successful businessman.

  1. We have had so far Imported Prime Ministers, but this time an Imported Governor. Another feather in the hat of Nawaz League. Its an insult to the entire nation, who could not produce a capable man out of 180 million population for this job. Shame on us.

  2. How can he be appointed as Governor of Punjab when he is holding a British Nationality?
Tomorrow some one may file an application against him that he is a foreign national and according to the law of the land, he cannot hold any public office.
I think that the judgement of Supreme Court will come against him and he has to resign from his post of Governorship.

  3. Honarable ministar planning and devolpment of punjab.
we aprecaite devolpment of LAHORE. We are really very happy as our city goes to devolp as a international cites . But we are going to effect . As i represent shop keepers of main road .sir we r going to disturb because our all shops going to destroy at azadi chowk Lahore thats are ours only source of income and our shops are all life savings of our parents . Sir its not fair that a person who owned a property at main road going to hell and back side poperty owner property comes at main road . Also we suggest as a report of cheif engineer teppa at express tribune 1st july 13 . In that report he admit(traffic issues at azaddi chowk represented a desighn fault in the metro bus route as the 8 km elevated bus track descended to ground level just a few 100 metters befor the junction had elevated track countinud past azadi chowk no elevated u turn would be required ) so we request you to Please change planning at elevated u turn at azaadi chowk to metro bus elavated track at all ravi road . Or at they other way maximise the coumpensation amount of effectives as per international laws of land equsation .
    Thanks
