The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) on Tuesday imposed a ban, with immediate effect, on digging basements in the entire district.
Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Naseem Sadiq imposed section 144 on digging basements in the entire district due to the ongoing monsoon season as this activity could damage nearly buildings.
The section 144 would remain operative till August 15 2013, Sadiq said.
Price-control magistrates remained active and conducted substantial raids on different shops across the city to monitor the quality and rates of various edible items. The magistrates arrested 15 shopkeepers involved in overcharging and recovered fines totaling to Rs 215,400.
Sadiq stated that the magistrates would remain in the markets and take strict action against overcharging shopkeepers.
