Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who turns 54 today, will celebrate his birthday in Yerwada Central Jail. He is amongst the actors who redefined the anti-hero in Indian cinema.
Everybody is aware of the fact that Bollywood’s Khalnayak surrendered before a Mumbai Special Court on May 16 to serve the remainder of his sentence after his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. But little do they know about the incident when a constable of Mumbai Police lost his job for giving him a ‘jaadu ki jhappi’ (hug).
It was back in August 2007 when Rajendra Kalekar, a prison guard was suspended after he hugged Sanjay Dutt, moments after he came out of Yerwada jail on interim bail. Also, eight constables, who shook hands with the actor were served show-cause notices by government. An inquiry on the eight constables and Kalekar was dropped though. Perhaps this is why prison guards and constables stayed away from Dutt on Monday.
It is to be noted that this is the third occasion when Sanjay Dutt celebrated his birthday inside a jail. Dutt celebrated his birthday behind bars in 1995.
