The Lahore High Court on Monday took notice of the gang-rape of an 11-year-old girl.
Nankana Sahib District and Sessions Judge has been directed to probe the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police along with his comments.
The girl, a resident of Syedwala Town, was returning home from a nearby shrine with her cousin when Rao Asif alias Kaka, Rai Saqlain and Rana Waheed assaulted her and took her to a deserted place where they raped her for two hours.
The victim’s father alleged that police was equally involved in this as he tried to lodge a complaint which was finally registered after a delay of five days against two culprits, omitting the name of Waheed. The medical examination of the victim was done after a week to destroy evidence and while ASI Saifullah was protecting the accused and humiliating the family, he said.
The LHC Complaint Cell taking notice of the incident directed the District and Sessions judge to look into the matter and submit a report within one week.
