Thousands of Muslims will observe itikaf during the last 10 days of Ramadan starting from today in the mosques of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
All the arrangements in the twin cities’ mosques have been completed, while registration of the people interested in Itikaf has been finalised.
The largest gathering to observe Itikaf in Islamabad will be at Faisal Mosque, while a huge number of Muslims will also observe the Sunnah in Lal Masjid and other mosques of the federal capital.
Similarly, largest gathering for Itikaf in Rawalpindi will be at Liaquat Bagh and Jamia Masjid and people will also sit in almost all the other mosques of the garrison city. Only registered persons will be allowed to sit in the main mosques of the twin cities for Itikaf, while the others that failed to get themselves registered may sit in mosques in their mohallahs.
Special security arrangements are also made for the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan so that the believers could observe Itikaf without any fear. Police officials and volunteers have been deployed in the entrances of the mosques to avert a possible terror act.
