The City Traffic Police (CTP) has issued a traffic plan for the citizen’s security along the route of the main procession that will be taken out on Wednesday on account of the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (R.A).

According to the plan, there will be complete ban on parking of any vehicle or handcart on the route of the procession and near Imambargahs.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Ishtiaq Hussain has instructed officials to ensure the security of the procession and to divert traffic from Saddar Road, Mochi Bazaar, City Police Station, DAV College Chowk, Alam Khan Road, Imambargah Chowk and Committee Chowk. Alternate routes would be provided for motorists including diversion at various points. The CTO said traffic wardens under the supervision of inspectors would perform their duties and emergency squads would also be appointed to maintain the traffic flow. “The wardens have been directed to ensure parking at a distance of 200 meters from the route of the procession and Imambargahs,” he added.

Moreover, all kinds of encroachments from the route of the procession have been removed and officials have been instructed to remain vigilant. The CTO warned them of strict disciplinary action for any negligence. “Citizens can call at City Traffic Police Helpline 1915 to know about the traffic situation on the roads,” he said.
