Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General (DG) Saud Ahmed Mirza said on Monday that zero tolerance would be shown towards those involved in electricity theft.
Chairing a high-level meeting of the FIA officials and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) distribution companies (DISCOs, Mirza said a special FIA team had been constituted on the instructions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to lead a campaign against power theft.
He said the campaign was for a national cause and everybody should participate in it.
The FIA DG said nobody was above the law and electricity thieves would be dealt with an iron hand. He said the government’s stance was very clear on this issue.
He appealed to the citizens to cooperate and inform the FIA team about any person involved in electricity theft.
“The FIA has advertised lists of names and telephone numbers of officials who can be contacted for action against power thieves,” he added.
