It could not have been a better start to the Advance Telecom T/20 2013 Tournament opening match of Pool A, played between State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) at the Moin Khan Academy in Karachi on Saturday. SBP won the toss and decided to bat. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals and only gave a modest score of 132 runs for their bowlers to defend in 20 overs. At the score of 28, SPB had already lost both its openers. It was Asif Ali’s 29 runs of 25 balls with 3 fours, which gave some respectability to the total. Naveed Yasin 22 and Gulraiz Sadaf 18 runs also proved to be crucial contributions. M. Irfan and Atif Maqbool bowled brilliantly for their three wickets haul and Tariq Haroon chipped in with two wickets for SSGC. Notably, two of the SPB’s batsmen got run out.
