SC moved against alleged corruption of Rs 2.81 in Interior Ministry

The Supreme Court (SC) was on Monday moved against alleged corruption of Rs 2.81 billion in the Interior Ministry.

A petition, in which the Interior Ministry, former interior minister Rehman Malik, the sitting interior minister, former and sitting interior secretaries, the finance secretary, the FIA DG and the NAB chairman were made respondents, was filed in the SC on Monday.

The petitioner, Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, took the plea that the Interior Ministry had made payments in advance to the tune of Rs 68 million under the head of ICT in police reforms structure project and Rs 370 million in law enforcement reforms training but no record with regard to their adjustment was available.

The petition said the Peshawar frontier headquarters inspector general made a payment of Rs 150 million to injured jawans but no record was available in this respect either.

It added the Balochistan FC inspector general had purchased several vehicles worth Rs 570 million with the approval of the Finance Ministry. A sum of Rs 140 million was deducted from the salaries of the jawans in the name of Scouts Saving Scheme and medical without approval from any competent authority.

“Illegal payment of Rs 210 million was made on account of salary to the army men deployed in private companies. Seventeen FC platoons were deployed for security of various public companies. The Islamabad Police made a payment of Rs 550 million to all its employees within 20 days under the head of monthly daily fixed allowance despite merger of amount of increased allowance of operational staff under the orders of prime minister.”

“A loss to the tune of Rs 15.2 million had been caused to the department through illegal appointment of sweeper, washer man at the residences of ICT officers,” the petitioner said.

The petitioner requested the court to order investigations into all these matters.

  1. If the leaders are corrupt the masses will definitely will be corrupt.
    You have no right to punish the thief's, convicted and criminals who are poor as you are protecting the rich elite class.

  2. Leader got to know that there is always a day when they will be caught and punished provided SC is really going to send them to jail for a long time SC needs to do more and quick justice delivered as they promised
