Policeman among five killed in escalating violence

Amid Rangers’ operation in the provincial metropolis, politically and ethnically motivated violence continued in various areas of the city on Monday, leaving a policeman and four other people dead.
Official said the firing incidents took place in Abul Hasan Isfahani Road area, Patel Para and Orangi Town where three people, including a policeman, lost their lives in firing by unidentified attackers riding motorcycles.
The fresh incidents of violence were reported this morning as four of the victims were killed just within one hour.
In another incident, a police van came under a cracker attack near Metro Cinema in Orangi Town this morning in which a constable was injured. The police mobile was partially damaged in the attack.
Meanwhile, two bodies were found from a garbage heap in Baldia Town No 2. Police and rescue sources said that the victims were shot dead after being kidnapped.
Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers claimed to have arrested nine persons, including two target killers in a targeted operation undertaken in Patel Para on Monday.
A heavy contingent of Rangers cordoned off the entry and exit points of Patel Para and conducted search operation, during which nine suspects, including two target killers, were rounded up.
Rangers claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the arrested culprits.
