ECP dispatches ballot papers to provinces

Following the presidential elections on July 30th, the Election Commission of Pakistan has completed the supply of ballot papers in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Initially 1,200 ballot papers have been printed.

According to details, the task for printing the ballot papers has been completed by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The ballot papers for the coming presidential polls have been dispatched to the provinces of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

These ballot papers were printed in the printing press of Pakistan under heavy security to avoid any unpleasant situation and were transported in the sealed boxes.

The ballot papers have been dispatched from the Printing Corporation of Pakistan (PCP) office to the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad and the provincial election commissions (PECs) in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar to be sent to the Senate, National Assembly and provincial assemblies on the polling day (Tuesday).

Earlier, the Pakistani Election Commission issued the instructions to the voters (lawmakers) regarding the polling day wherein they had been asked not to carry their cellular phones to the parliament and the provincial assemblies which have been declared polling stations. By imposing a ban on mobile phones, the ECP wants to keep the voters away from any external influence during the cast of their ballots.

Moreover, the voters would not be allowed to leave the polling rooms till completion of the voting process.

Following the directives issued by the chief election commissioner and returning officers, the ballot papers to be used for the coming presidential elections would be produced before the presiding officers on the day of polling tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Presidential Rules 1988 grants the returning officers the powers regarding appointment of the presiding officers and provision of ballot papers/boxes and performance of related procedures during the presidential election.
