Hundreds of people ransacked the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) office in Bannu and destroyed its record in protest against prolonged power outages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.

The people started their protest early in the morning on Dera Ismail Khan Road, but none of the officials concerned turned up to hold talks with them even after several hours.

Later they stormed the PESCO office and torched the office record, three vehicles and four motorcycles.

The protesters demanded an immediate end to unscheduled load shedding.

Security officials arrived at the scene and resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protesters.

The current demand for electricity in Pakistan stands at 17,861 megawatts whilst the current supply is 14,317 MW.
