Missing person returns home

Registrar Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances GOP, Islamabad has informed the Supreme Court (SC) that missing person Noor Hassan has returned home as per his brother’s telephonic message.

One Muhammad Yousuf moved an application the SC against enforced disappearance of his brother filed with the human rights cell of SC. He stated in his application that his brother was arrested by unidentified persons in Lahore Cantt as he was on his way back from Lahore to Karachi. The missing spent 40 days at Lahore for preaching purpose. The brother of the missing had prayed the court to take action in connection with release of his brother.

Pakistan Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Chaudhary taking notice of the application ordered that report in this respect be obtained from Secretary Defence and Secretary Interior within 15 days.

Ministry of Defence Director (Legal) submitted a report that ISI & MI GHQ have been asked to provide all necessary information to the court. He requested the court to grant 8 weeks time for submission of report. However, the CJ has granted two weeks time to the Defence Secretary.
