Ben Foster is tipped to play disgraced bicyclist Lance Armstrong in an upcoming biopic. He has appeared in films such as “Alpha Dog,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “3:10 to Yuma” and “The Messenger.”
Stephen Frears (“The Queen”) will direct the Working Title film, which will center on Armstrong’s battle with testicular cancer in the mid-1990s and his use of performance-enhancing drugs.
The seven-time Tour De France champion finally admitted to Oprah Winfrey earlier this year that he used banned substances throughout his career after years of denying doping allegations.
The cyclist was stripped of his Tour De France titles, and he was also ordered to return the bronze medal he won at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.
Meanwhile, documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney will be releasing “The Armstrong Lie,” which will feature footage from the athlete’s failed 2009 comeback to his admission of doping.
