6 officials suspended for delaying FJA project

Six officials of PWD and Nespak have been terminated including Director General three Chief Engineers and two Assistant Commissioners due to negligence and delay in the construction of Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) building.

Secretary Housing and Works Habibullah Khattak announced this on Saturday during a press conference at FJA.

He said that initially the project had to be completed in 18 months but according to the new order of the Supreme Court (SC) the construction should be completed within 36 months. The new deadline is July 31 and so far 80 percent of the work has been completed.

He said that even after availability of funds PWD has been unable to complete the work on priority bases due to being engaged in multiple projects. He demanded thorough audit of the FJA project as total cost amounts to Rs 70 million whereas Rs 350 million were allocated for it.

Furthermore, the secretary said that the project should be completed till August 15 and the progress will be jointly monitored by Joint Secretary Housing and Works Amna Imran and Project Director Access to Justice Programme Sohail Qadeer Siddiqui.
