5,000 cops to perform duty on Youm-e-Ali

The Lahore Police finalised foolproof security arrangements for the central procession on 21st Ramazan in relation with the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (AS).

Operations DIG Tahir Rai said that the police had prepared a comprehensive security plan for the procession and directions to all divisional SPs had also been issued.

The plan included the deployment of 5,000 police officials to the central procession which would commence from the Mochi Gate on

Wednesday and terminate at the Karbala Ghamay Shah the same evening after passing through its traditional routes.

Rescue 1122 vehicles, fire-brigades, ambulances and bomb disposal squads would remain on high alert along the procession route.

Rai said that every participant would be searched at barriers at four places on the route of the procession for security purposes.

He added that the police would remain in contact with the head of the central procession for continual updates on the procession.
