Tehreek-ul-Ansar claims responsibility
The death toll in the twin suicide bombings in Parachinar rose to 57, whereas the condition of many of the injured is still critical.
Seven people succumbed to their injuries in the hospital on Saturday thus raising the death toll from the attacks to 57.
Around 200 injured were under treatment in various hospitals. Most of the injured were in Agency Headquarter Hospital (AHH) Parachinar whereas more than 30 have been shifted to Peshawar.
The doctors at AHH said the condition of around 20 injured was still critical.
Amongst those shifted to Peshawar, 21 were under treatment at Lady Reading Hospital.
Dr Gohar Ali of LRH told Pakistan Today that some of the injured had been operated. He said that though some of the injured were still in danger, they were in the recovery phase.
An elder from the Parachinar Shia community, Nisar Hussain showed severe resentment over continuous violence against the innocent people of Kurram Agency.
He said the government must fulfill its lawful and constitutional responsibility of protecting their lives and properties otherwise it should let them to do the job themselves.
He demanded the government to carry out a Swat-like military operation in Kurram Agency.
He said the funerals of around 50 people killed in the attacks were held in Parachinar and its surrounding areas. After the funerals, Fateha was held for the departed souls in various Imambargahs in the area.
There was a complete strike and all bazaars and shopping centers were closed, he said. The local elders and traders had already declared three-day mourning, he added.
The Kurram Agency political administration officials said that investigation for the attacks was ordered.
On the directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor, the political administration would compensate the injured and heirs of those killed in the attacks, he added.
The Kurram Agency political agent has declared both the explosions as suicide bombings and has confirmed retrieving one suicide bomber’s head.
Tehreek-ul-Ansar, a wing of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has already claimed responsibility for both the suicide attacks in Parachinar and said it was the revenge of what they called the “killing of Sunnis in Syria”.
Media reports revealed that the banned TTP militants had landed in Syria to contribute in the toppling of President Bashar al Assad- led Shia government. The United States-led allies, including Saudi Arabia, have already united against the Assad government
