The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Friday recovered 52.9 kilogrammes (kg) of ephedrine, 43 kg of ephedrine mixed with vanilla powder and 1,272 bottles of ephedrine mixed with jam.
The ANF had received information of illegitimate smuggling of ephedrine. Based on the information a discrete surveillance detail was placed for some time period but no activity was recorded.
A raid was later conducted at the house which resulted in recovery of 52.9 kg of ephedrine, 43 kg of ephedrine mixed with vanilla powder, 572.4 kg (1,272 bottles) of ephedrine mixed with jam and 82 kg of vanilla powder. The mixtures were found packed under forged names.
ANF has registered a case and is further investigating the matter.
ROBBERY BID FOILED: Police on Friday foiled two robbery bids in different localities of the city and arrested six besides recovering illegal arms from them.
According to details, Saddar Bairooni Police acting upon a tip-off arrested a 4 member gang Qadir, Suhail, Bashir and Zaheer from Jarahi locality and recovered four 30-bore pistols from each one of them.
Meanwhile, Sadiqabad Police conducted a raid in Khurram Colony after learning of suspicious activities taking place in the area. Police apprehended two Waseem and Attique for allegedly planning a robbery and recovered two 30-bore pistols from them.
Police have registered cases against those arrested and further investigation is underway.
OUTLAWS NABBED: The city police in its ongoing campaign against anti-social elements on Friday arrested 24 persons from different localities and recovered illegal arms and drugs from their possession.
Police seized 1,935 grams of charras, 40 bottles of liquor and five 30-bore pistols from their possession.
According to details, Pirwadhai Police apprehended Sarwar with 110 grams of charras, Rehman with 105 grams, Junaid with 105 grams, Hassan with 120 grams, Farooq with 105 grams and Falak Naz with 1,115 grams of charas. Abdul Majeed, Abrar, Nazakat, Nisar and Rahat were also arrested for carrying total 24 bottles of liquor. Police also nabbed Rashid and Naeem and recovered five liters of local wine from each of them and booked Azhar and Sohrab for carrying two 30-bore pistols each.
Race Course and Airport Police caught Fida Muhammad with 120 grams of charras and Ajmal with 255 grams of charas,.
R.A Bazaar Police recovered 10 liters local liquor from Dilbar Riaz and Sunny Masih whereas Wah Cantt and Saddar Bairooni Police held Taimur with one bottle of liquor and Mir Zaman with 8 wine bottles.
Naseerabad Police arrested Imran and Allah Ditta and recovered two 30 bore pistols from them and impounded a tampered car bearing registration number LZE-12. New Town Police nabbed Peter for carrying a 30-bore pistol.
Cases have been registered against all those arrested and investigations are underway.
