The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started fresh investigation into import of fertilizer causing losses of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.

According to reports, a NAB team raided the godowns of National Fertilizer Marketing Ltd (NFML) at Phoolnagar and recovered 7500 bags of imported fertilizer. Sources said when weighed, every bag was found to be short of ten to 25 kilograms of fertilizer.

Reports say that important concerned officers of NFML were also taken into custody by the NAB team for their involvement in blackmarketing.

It is worth mentioning that NAB and FIA had completed investigation into billions of rupees subsidy given on fertilizer during the previous government but the reports were pushed under the carpet on the instructions of high ups.

Reports say that on the direction from higher level, NAB has started the investigation afresh and the raid at Phoolnagar godown was part of this investigation. It has been revealed that imported fertilizer was not only smuggled into Afghanistan but blue eyed people were also given quotas for sale.
