The desalination of nullahs in the populated areas of Chaklala and Rawalpindi cantonments could not started despite the start of monsoon. The encroachments on both sides of nullahs in populated areas have constricted the drainage-ways, while lack of desalination is further adding to the problem. During the rain, water overflows from the nullahs and enter streets and houses. The condition of the open sewerage lines in the bazaars of Chaklala and Rawalpindi cantonments is also not different as these are filled with mud. The muddy water scatters on the roads during the rains, creating nuisance for the traders and shoppers alike. The most affected areas include Raheemabad, Aarda, People’s Colony, Banaras Colony, Qaziabad, Saddar, Westridge and Azizabad. The monsoon rains make life miserable for the people living beside nullahs while the authorities concerned are silent spectators. Rawalpindi Cantt Deputy CEO Sardar Atif has said that desalination of major nullahs would be started in a couple of days. The residents demanded of the CEOs of the cantonments to ensure desalination of nullahs and sanitation of bazaars and streets of populated areas of the cantonments.
De-Silting …. not De-Salination … for Goodness sake …
