Margallian Welfare Association (MWA) has urged senior government officials to restore water supply to Margalla View Housing Scheme.

The water supply has been snapped by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Punjab Government.

President MWA Javed Siddiqui, Vice President Naseem Usmani and Secretary Raja Ilyas told media on Tuesday that water was being supplied to the housing scheme from Rawal Dam after a written agreement between the CDA and society management. The dam management in consent with CDA has stopped the water supply without any reason and alleged it was done to facilitate an influential personality.

They complained to the CDA and dam management but to no avail. They said that a No Objection Certificate (NOC) was issued in 2002 for D-17 Margalla View Housing Society by the civic authority and as per the agreement water from the dam was to be provided to the society.

The water treatment plant was installed in 2010 at a total cost of Rs 2 billion and water supply was started in 2012.

The MWA said that a large number of overseas Pakistanis have invested in the project and there is apparently no water shortage in the dam.

They appealed to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Minister for Interior Nisar Ali Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif for intervening and taking notice of the situation and directing the concerned authorities to restore water supply to the residents without further delay.
