Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N)’s members of national and provincial assemblies belonging to Southern Punjab have said that Muhammad Sarwar was highly respected for his valuable services to Pakistan in social, political and economic sectors.
In their joint statement issued on Wednesday, Punjab Assembly Acting Speaker Sher Ali Khan, members of National Assembly Tahir Bashir Cheema, Alam Daad Lalika, Ali Hassan Gillani and Najeeb ud Din Awaisi and members of Punjab Assembly Zahid Akram, Rana Rauf, Shaukat Ali Lalika, Ijaz Shafi, Chaudhary Khalid, Shoaib Awasi, Khalid Waran and Chaudhary Shafique said that by renouncing his British citizenship Sarwar has shown that he was a true patriot.
They observed that despite being a member of the British Parliament he played a highly significant role in strengthening mutual ties between Pakistan and Britain and working in the best interest of Pakistan. The statement from the PML-N leadership from South was issued following reports and comments against the party’s decision to appoint Sarwar as the new governor of Punjab.
The members of the assemblies said that the decision by the leadership with regards to the post of governor of Punjab would be accepted wholeheartedly. They refuted the impression that MNAs and MPAs from South Punjab have expressed reservations on suggesting Sarwar as Punjab governor and showed complete confidence in Sarwar.
