The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) to issue notices again to 19 institutions refusing to subject their accounts for audit and sought a legal and constitutional explanation from these institutions till August for their refusal.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the case for hearing.
The AGPR presented the report before the SC during the course of the hearing. The AGPR told the court that they contacted the institutions in connection with their audit but they refused without giving any reason.
The court was told that there were 19 institutions, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Wah Ordinance Factory and Rural Support Programme Punjab which refused to subject their accounts for audit.
The court said government institutions were bound to get their accounts audited from the AGPR. It directed all institutions concerned to file their replies in the court on the next hearing.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till August 5.
