Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has assured that legislation for local body (LB) government in Punjab will soon be introduced, adding that the Supreme Court verdicts regarding the issue will be abided.
Speaking to media on Monday, Sanaullah announced that a meeting will be held on July 24. August 15 is the deadline for such legislation, the electoral procedures for which will be assured through mutual consensus.
“We would be referring to the Election Commission for delimitations,” he said. The minister added that the masses should be given a chance for elections at the councilor level, enabling them to elect any social worker in town committee elections and at the corporate level. Details for the proceedings will be debated in the assembly.
