The crime rate has escalated in the federal capital with the capital police registering 289 robbery cases during the last six months.
According to crime data collected from various police stations, the police registered 111 cases of burglary out of which 32 took place during the day and 79 at night. The police registered 7 FIRs against theft.
In addition to this, the police also registered 154 robbery cases while a total of 289 theft cases were registered during the last six month. It should be mentioned that the original number of theft cases could be higher as many incidents go unreported.
The record states that out of the total 289 cases, 111 cases are still pending. There have been reports of diplomats getting robbed at gun point making the once safe city a safe haven for criminals. It also speaks volumes about the performance of the police department. Islamabad police enjoy double salary compared to their counterparts in other provinces.
ARRESTS: Islamabad police on Monday busted three criminal gangs from various areas of the city. Police recovered stolen motorcycles, cash, cellular phones, fake registration documents, weapons and other valuables from their possession.
According to a police spokesman, Superintendet (SP) (Rural) Sadaqat Ali Khan constituted a special team of Shahzad Town Police to launch crackdown against those involved in heinous crimes.
The team under the supervision of Station House Office (SHO) of Shahzad Town Police Station Hakim Khan, ASI Abdul Hafiz and other police officials arrested a criminal gang. The members of the gang were identified as Aurangzeb, Shafqat Hussain, Ghulam Ishaq, Muhammad Afzal and Adnan and recovered four motorcycles from their possession.
Police team also arrested 2 of another dacoit gang namely Farhan Mehmood and Shaja ud Din and recovered two stolen cellular phones and cash amounting to Rs 11,000 from their possession.
Station House Officer (SHO) Koral Police Station Inspector Mubarik Ali and Sub-Inspector Muhammad Zamir arrested five members of a dacoit gang identified as Abdul Malik, Akhtar Khan, Muhammad Asim, Sajid Khan and Saqib Khan and recovered two illegal pistols and cash from their possession.
Meanwhile, SHO Shalimar Police Station Inspector Sajjad Haider Bukhari, ASI Muhammad Iqbal along with a police team, on a tip off arrested Hazarat, Dolat Khan Afghani, Khair Muhammad Afghani, Khan Wali Afghani and Qasimat Ullah Afghani from Sector F-11/4 and recovered three illegal pistols along with 18 bullets from their possession.
Sub-Inspector Ghulam Muhammad Shah and ASI Muhammad Awan from Bara Kahu Police Station arrested drug pusher Changez Khan, Qamar Khan and Imtiaz Ashraf and recovered 15 wine bottles from their possession.
Aabpara Police arrested four namely Javed, Shahbaz, Yousaf and Fahad and recovered four wine bottles and two mobile phones from their possession. Cases have been registered against all those arrested and further investigation is underway.
SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq have appreciated the overall performance of the police officials and directed them to maintain law and order in the city.
