Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said the appointment of new army chief would be made on merit and in accordance with the constitution.
Talking to a private TV channel, the minister said the PML-N government never believed in conspiracies but a strong democratic system in the country.
He said the PML-N respected mandate of other parties in provinces and recalled that it was capable of forming its governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan‚ but it allowed other parties to form their governments.
The minister said the government was sharing information among intelligence agencies to stop terrorist activities in Karachi.
To a question‚ he said the government was committed to hold local bodies election. However‚ he said‚ holding of these elections on party basis or otherwise would be decided by the provinces.
