A woman was injured in an acid attack in Balakot after her husband threw acid at her on Sunday over suspicions of her having illicit relations with a villager.
According to police, the incident took place in Satbani village of tehsil Balakot where a man threw acid on his wife, Shamshad Bibi, over suspicions about her character.
The assailant tortured Shamshad Bibi after which his in-laws took their daughter home.
A reconciliatory jirga was summoned where the man failed to prove his wife guilty and she left her husband’s house and started living with her parents.
On the day of the incident, the accused barged into his of in-laws’ house along with his brothers and fled the scene after throwing acid at his wife.
The injured woman was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Balakot from where she was referred to Abbottabad for treatment.
Muhammad Haroon, father of Shamshad Bibi, appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the incident and punish the accused.
