The upcoming meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee is likely to discuss issues pertaining to the troubled Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).

Newly-appointed PSM CEO Saadat Cheema told this during a meeting of senior directors convened on Sunday at the mill’s operation building.

During the meeting, it was decided that the case of Pakistan Steel Mills will be taken up with the federal government and it (government) would be briefed about the current problems faced by the organisation.

Among all the issues, payment of salaries to the employees of PSM would be given top priority, he added.

The CEO assured that the case of PSM would be taken up with the ministry of finance through ministry of industries and production as soon as possible. Also, these issues may be discussed in the upcoming session of ECC and all the issues including the payment of salaries will be resolved, Cheema added.

During the meeting, the CEO said the Pakistan Steel was a national asset and thousands of people and families were linked with this great organisation.

He further said the Pakistan Steel had a lot of potential and hoped that the organisation would once again stand on its feet.
